Thoughts

I was fortunate to meet Joyce & Stan through my friend and their daughter Fiona many years ago. What a fun loving, lively couple they were! I've followed their fun and enjoyment of life on Fiona's Facebook, so I was very shocked and saddened by Stan's sudden departure. Lots of love to you all. RIP Stan...x

Squadron Leader Stanley Walker MBE SRN RCNT RNT AE* RAuxAF It is with much sadness that we heard that ‘Stan’ Walker passed away on Wednesday 13th January at the age of 84. Many may recall Stan from 2 MHU days and indeed later when he served with 612 Squadron Squadron at Leuchars. He was a very popular and kind individual. Indeed Stan had an amazing life in uniform from his early days in the RAF during which he witnessed British nuclear tests in Australia to his impressive days in the Royal Auxiliary Air Force in Edinburgh, Pitreavie Castle and Leuchars. We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Joyce and family at this sad time. It is with a heavy heart to say we lost dad last week. Lovely comments from his friends and colleagues at 603 City of Edinburgh Squadron. Before joining the RAF dad travelled the world in the Royal Auxillary Navy , he always talked about how he jumped a fence at Waikiki Beach and watched Elvis for free (typical Scotsman 😀) Prior to his time at 603 dad served in the regular RAF working his way up and final being Commissioned. During that time he taught so many people who then went onto great things in the medical world After leaving the RAF dad went to work in the Sultanate of Oman where he set up a teaching hospital for the local Omani’s, a few years ago dad received a knock at the door and stood in front of him was a former pupil, he had come to tell Dad that thanks to his guidance he was now a Consultant Surgeon His passion was travelling, together with mum they must have travelled the world many times over Dad touched so many peoples life during his wonderful lifetime and he will undoubtedly be up there raising a whiskey and ginger saying don’t be sad, I had a great adventure down there and it was an honour to have known you all Dad also had a medical training book published which was used by many SRN training nurses For all is dedication to so many people he was awarded the MBE Farewell dad, blue skies, see you again one day? I’ll look after mum for you 🌈🥃❤️ easy Sir, your duty is done.
